Remote Machine Diagnostics

SMI’s service team offers remote, on-line diagnostics over a high speed internet connection.  Every machine equipped with a PC offers this capability.  The PC can be set up with a standard modem card for a wired connection in your plant or with a wireless card to connect to your in-house wireless network.

Should an issue arise, simply enable the connection on your end and advise our staff of your situation.  Using standard commercial software, our technicians can then access the PC on your machine.  The high speed connection allows for real-time diagnostics and troubleshooting without the cost or delay of sending a technician to your facility.  This state-of-the-art capability allows us to address the following conditions quickly and inexpensively:

 

  • PC setup problems
  • Parameter adjustments unique to your production environment
  • PLC software and hardware troubleshooting
  • Limit switch status inspection
  • Monitoring of the machine in operation
  • Network connection issues
  • Production file issues for welders and saws

 

This support capability is available during standard business hours, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM eastern time Monday through Friday.  Scheduling on-line diagnostics outside these hours may be arranged in advance on a case by case basis.  Contact our Technical Support Team to find out more.
